Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the northeast of the State will move slowly northeastwards as a high pressure system southwest of the Bight strengthens as it moves east over the next few days. An upper level trough developing over Western Australia will maintain a band of rain, heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms, over the interior of South Australia that will slowly contract to the northeast later in the week.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain and possible isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Ceduna to Cleve, tending widespread with possible locally heavy falls in the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Isolated thunderstorms in the north. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh about the coasts, tending light northeasterly in the far northeast.Wednesday 29 FebruaryAreas of rain north of about Pt Augusta to Renmark, tending widespread with isolated thunderstorms and possible locally heavy falls in parts of the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Partly cloudy with isolated showers and patchy light rain elsewhere north of about Adelaide to Ceduna and the far west. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Fresh south to southeasterly winds, becoming strong about the coasts during the afternoon. Winds tending light to moderate northeasterly in the northeast.Thursday 1 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill, tending widespread over the Northeast Pastoral district with possible locally heavy falls. Isolated showers about the coasts, and eastern border area with possible showers in the far west. Mild to warm with fresh southeasterly winds, strong at times about the coasts.Friday 2 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Coober Pedy to Hawker with tending widespread with isolated thunderstorms and possible locally heavy falls over the Northeast Pastoral. Isolated showers over the coastal areas and eastern border area with possible shower over the remainder of the agricultural area. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 3 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Coober Pedy to Hawker with tending widespread with isolated thunderstorms and possible locally heavy falls over the Northeast Pastoral. Isolated showers over the coastal areas and eastern border areawithh possible shower over the remainder of the agricultural area. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon until midnight Friday are expected to be up to 1 to 5 over the north of the southern agricultural area grading to 5 to 30 mm over northern agricultural with possible local falls of 30 to 50mm in the far north. falls of 50 to 100 mm are expected over the Flinders and Pastoral districts, with possible falls of 100 to 200 mm in parts of the pastorals.Sunday until TuesdayArea of rain contracting to the far north then clearing by late Monday. Possible isolated showers continuing about the coasts. Mild to warm throughout with moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
