MELBOURNE - Feb 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea is directing moist northeasterly winds over New South Wales and into a low pressure trough over the southwest. As the high moves slowly eastwards, this trough will move slowly further into New South Wales. This is expected to generate widespread areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms with some heavy falls. The trough will then progress northeastwards and stall over central parts of the state on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain and isolated thunderstorms over southern and western parts of the state. Heavy falls possible. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of southerly change in the west and south.Wednesday 29 FebruaryCloudy. Rain and isolated thunderstorms over the southern half of the state with heavy falls possible. Fine in the north apart from isolated showers on the northwest slopes. Northwest to northeast winds in the north, south to southeasterly winds in the south.Thursday 1 MarchIsolated showers in far southwest and far northeast. Areas of rain throughout the remainder with heavy falls possible. South to southwesterly winds in the southwest, northeast to northwesterly throughout remainder.Friday 2 MarchScattered showers and areas of rain throughout most of the state, with locally heavy falls through central parts. Showers tending isolated in the southwest in the evening. North west winds in the north east, south to southwest throughout remainder.Saturday 3 MarchIsolated showers in the far southwest and northeast, with scattered showers and areas of rain throughout most of the remainder.
