Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the northeast of the State will remain near stationary as a high pressure ridge develops to the south of the Bight on Tuesday and Wednesday. An upper level trough developing over Western Australia will maintain a band of rain, heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms, scattered at times over the interior of South Australia throughout the week.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain and possible isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Ceduna to Adelaide, becoming widespread with locally heavy falls possible in the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Scattered thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh about the coasts, tending light northeasterly in the far northeast.Wednesday 29 FebruaryAreas of rain north of about Cleve to Nuriootpa, becoming widespread with isolated thunderstorms and locally heavy falls possible in parts of the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Partly cloudy with possible showers further south. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Fresh south to southeasterly winds, tending light to moderate northeasterly in the northeast.Thursday 1 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Woomera to Renmark, widespread over the Northeast Pastoral district with locally heavy falls. Isolated showers about the coasts, fine otherwise. Mild to warm with fresh southeasterly winds.Friday 2 MarchAreas of rain over the Pastorals, more widespread about the far north. Patchy rain extending south over the Flinders and Riverland districts. Possible showers over the remainder. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning until midnight Friday are expected to be 5 to 20 mm over the agricultural area and West Coast district, with local falls of 20 to 50 mm over the northern agricultural area with thunderstorms. Falls of 50 to 100 mm are expected over the Flinders and Pastoral districts, with possible falls of 100 to 200 mm in parts.Saturday until MondayAreas of rain are expected to continue over parts of the northern agricultural area, Pastoral and Flinders districts. Isolated showers over the remainder, gradually contracting to coastal areas. Remaining mild to warm with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
