Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure near Lameroo to Port Augusta to Pukatja will move northeastwards to be near Yunta to Oodnadatta this evening. A high pressure ridge will develop in the wake of the trough and an associated high will be positioned to the south of the Bight on Tuesday. An upper level trough developing over Western Australia will maintain a band of rain over the interior of South Australia throughout the week, with local heavy falls.
Forecast for the rest of MondayAreas of rain and possible isolated thunderstorms about the coasts in the morning. Areas of rain and scattered thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts and northeast of the agricultural area. Patchy rain elsewhere. Hot in the northeast with light to moderate north to northeast winds. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm over the remainder of the north, with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Tuesday 28 FebruaryAreas of rain and possible thunderstorms northeast of about Ceduna to Adelaide, becoming widespread with locally heavy falls possible in the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh about the coasts, tending light northeasterly in the far northeast.Wednesday 29 FebruaryAreas of rain north of about Port Lincoln to Adelaide, becoming widespread with locally heavy falls possible in parts of the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Fine otherwise. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, tending light to moderate northeasterly in the northeast.Thursday 1 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Tarcoola to Clare, contracting to the Northeast Pastoral district by evening. Fine otherwise apart from possible light showers about southern and western coasts. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday morning until midnight Thursday are expected to be 5 to 20 mm over the agricultural area and West Coast district, with local falls of 20 to 50 mm over the northern agricultural area with thunderstorms. Falls of 10 to 50 mm are expected over the far northeast and far south of the Pastoral districts. 50 to 100 mm is expected over the remainder of the Pastoral districts and the Flinders district with local falls of 150 mm possible.Friday until SundayAreas of rain over the Pastorals, possibly extending slightly southwards during the period. Possible light showers about western and southern coasts Friday and Saturday morning. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, easing and tending east to southeasterly towards the end of the periodThe next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
