Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over southwest Victoria will move slowly eastwards during Monday and Tuesday to clear the northeast of the state on Tuesday afternoon. A high pressure system will move into the Bight on Tuesday and will strengthen on Wednesday, extending a a ridge south of Tasmania. An inland trough over New South Wales will deepen on Wednesday and extend into northeast Victoria. The high will remain in the Bight on Thursday as a cold front moves into the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the west and northeast. Humid with moderate to fresh northerly winds, tending westerly in the west.Monday 27 FebruaryShowers extending from the west and tending to areas of rain during the day. Scattered thunderstorms with some heavy falls. Warm and humid northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwest to southerly change slowly extending from the southwest.Fire Danger -  High in the northwest and southeast.Tuesday 28 FebruaryRain and isolated thunderstorms, more widespread about the northeast with some heavy falls. Rain gradually contracting to the north and east during the afternoon and becoming dry over southwest and central districts by the evening. Mild with a moderate to fresh southerly wind.Wednesday 29 FebruaryRain areas in the north, tending to scattered showers over Gippsland, Dry elsewhere apart from isolated showers extending to the central coast during the afternoon and evening. Mild with a moderate to fresh southeasterly wind.Thursday 1 MarchPatchy rain in the north clearing during during the early morning. Isolated showers in the south. Mild with fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
