MELBOURNE - Feb 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northeastern New South Wales and an upper level trough is moving across the central parts of the state and weakening. A low pressure surface trough will move over the far west of the state later on Monday and then it will move slowly east during Tuesday as a cold front passes to the south. The trough is expected to move back over the central parts of the state on Thursday and deepen in response to another upper trough approaching from the west. Forecast for the rest of SundayPartly cloudy on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Scattered showers and the chance of storms over the western slopes and plains. Isolated showers and the Chance of thunderstorms over the remainder. North to northeast winds.Monday 27 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast apart with isolated showers on the far north coast. Rain areas developing across the southern inland and isolated showers elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the west. Northeast to northwest winds, and a late southerly change in the far west.Tuesday 28 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast apart from isolated showers on the far north coast. Rain areas over the southern inland, extending through the remainder during the day. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of southerly change in the west and southeast.Wednesday 29 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the far southwest. Showers elsewhere most widespread near the central ranges, slopes and coast. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast.
