Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will remain almost stationary over the weekend before weakening early next week. A low pressure trough will enter southwest Victoria late Sunday afternoon, moving slowly eastwards during Monday and Tuesday to clear the northeast of the state on Tuesday afternoon. A high pressure system will move into the Bight on Tuesday and extend a ridge south of Tasmania on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayClear. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, lighter in the east with afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Sunday 26 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast, extending to most districts during the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the north and west. Warm to hot and becoming humid with fresh northerly winds.Fire Danger -  Severe in the Wimmera. High to Very High elsewhere.Monday 27 FebruaryShowers at first, but tending to areas of rain during the day. Scattered thunderstorms with some heavy falls possible. Warm and humid northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwest to southerly change slowly extending from the southwest.Tuesday 28 FebruaryRain and isolated thunderstorms in the north and east contracting to the far northeast during the afternoon and easing. Isolated showers to follow in the south. Mild with a moderate to fresh southerly wind.Wednesday 29 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered about the Gippsland coast and far eastern ranges. Isolated showers extending to the central coast during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible about the eastern ranges in the afternoon.
