Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An upper low is moving westwards across northern New South Wales and weakening. A high pressure system at the surface lies over the western Tasman Sea is directing east to northeasterly winds across the state. The combination of these two systems is producing showers and isolated thunderstorms over northern New South Wales. As the high weakens and moves eastward on Monday a trough will move into southwestern New South Wales, with showers extending to the southwestern inland. The trough is expected to intensify on Tuesday and move through to the east of the state.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMostly clear in the west and south. Cloudy with scattered showers in the northeast, tending isolated along the coast and eastern ranges. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeastern inland. East to northeast winds.Sunday 26 FebruaryScattered showers and the chance of storms over the western slopes and plains, extending to the southern ranges and coast during the afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the state, mainly afternoon. North to northeast winds.Monday 27 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast apart with isolated showers on the far north coast. Rain areas developing across the southern inland and isolated showers elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the west. Northeast to northwest winds, and a late southerly change in the far west.Tuesday 28 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast, with isolated showers on the far north coast. Rain areas over the southern inland, extending eastwards and northwards during the day, but remaining fine on the northern coast and ranges. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of southerly change in the west and southeast.Wednesday 29 FebruaryShowers over much of the state, most widespread near the central ranges, slopes and coast. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast. Southerly winds extending throughout the remainder.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
