Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system developing over the western Tasman Sea is strengthening a ridge across eastern New South Wales, promoting generally fine and stable conditions in most districts today. This high is forecast to be the dominant synoptic feature through the weekend, moving only very slowly to the east. A new trough is expected to reach western parts of New South Wales later on the weekend, with unsettled conditions again developing ahead of it. The passage of a cold front early next week is expected to bring further rainfall, although the movement of this is currently uncertain.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of showers in the northeast, mostly about the northern coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast inland. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. East to southeast winds, tending northeasterly along the southern coast.Friday 24 FebruaryShowers in the northeast, mainly near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. East to northeast winds.Saturday 25 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny in the southern half of the state. The chance of showers elsewhere. Possible afternoon thunderstorms over the northern inland. East to northeast winds.Sunday 26 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over central and western districts. Fine in the west. Northwest to northeast winds.Monday 27 FebruaryRain areas extending from the southwest reaching the central inland later in the day.
