MELBOURNE - Feb 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure over southern Victoria will persist during Thursday as a high pressure centre forms over the Tasman Sea. The high will consolidate over the Tasman Sea on Friday and remain stationary on Saturday as a low pressure trough moves into the Bight. The trough will enter southwest Victoria Sunday afternoon and will cross the remainder of the State on Monday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast and Gippsland ranges.Thursday 23 FebruaryEarly fog in the south then fine and mostly sunny. Warm inland with light and variable winds. Milder along the coastal fringe with seabreezes developing during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally high.Friday 24 FebruaryEarly fog in the south then fine and mostly sunny. Warm to hot inland with light winds tending northerly. Milder along the coastal fringe with seabreezes developing during the afternoon.Saturday 25 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny. A warm to hot day with moderate to fresh northerly winds, although lighter in the east with local afternoon seabreezes developing along the Gippsland coast.Sunday 26 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing over the east. Isolated showers developing over most other areas during the afternoon.
