Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high south of Kangaroo Island is weakening and moving east, and will merge with a high over the Tasman sea on Friday. A surface low pressure trough will move into the far west during Saturday, then extend eastwards to reach central districts later Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast, clearing in the evening. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 23 FebruaryIsolated early morning fog patches in the South East, Central and Murraylands districts, then a fine and mostly sunny day. Warm to hot with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds and afternoon sea breezes.Friday 24 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny. Generally hot with moderate to fresh northeasterly winds and light to moderate afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 25 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over areas north and east of about Oodnadatta to Woomera to Broken Hill. Isolated thundery showers also developing about the western border later in the day. Hot with moderate northerly winds ahead of a southwesterly change moving over the far west later.Sunday 26 February
Patchy rain and possible thunderstorms gradually extending from the west, to reach Coober Pedy to Kingscote late evening. Dry over the remainder apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms near the eastern border. Hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change in the west slowly extending eastwards to reach southern coasts in the evening.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to 1 to 5 mm with possible local falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms, however confidence in this forecast is low.
Monday until WednesdayPatchy rain and possible thunderstorms gradually contracting northeastwards from late Monday to be confined to north of Coober Pedy to Marree on Wednesday. Becoming milder throughout early in the period as southwest to southerly winds extend throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
