MELBOURNE - Feb 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight directs a southeast to southerly airflow across Victoria. On Wednesday, the high will extend a ridge across Tasmania. A high cell will form in the Tasman Sea on Thursday, with a ridge remaining across Tasmania. The high will consolidate in the Tasman Sea on Friday, with the ridge across Tasmania weakening. The high will remain almost stationary in the central Tasman Sea on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in the east. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast during the evening. Light to moderate southeast to southerly winds easing.Wednesday 22 FebruaryLocal morning showers about the central coast. Fine elsewhere apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast and also along the Gippsland ranges. Mild near the coast, but warm inland with light to moderate east to southeast winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Locally high.Thursday 23 FebruaryEarly fog in the south then fine and mostly sunny.
