Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over the western Tasman Sea is moving to the southeast and an associated trough over far northeastern New South Wales is weakening. Another trough over the inland parts of the state is moving west and weakening too, as a high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the south coast. On Wednesday the high will move over the southwestern Tasman Sea strengthening the ridge to the north coast. A new trough is expected to develop over the far west during during Saturday and Sunday and then to move east on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly clear in the northwest. Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers on the south and central coasts and ranges. The chance of showers or thunderstorms elsewhere. Southeast to southwest winds.Wednesday 22 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the far southwest. Scattered showers about central coast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms remainder with showers tending scattered in the northeast. Southeast to northeast winds.Thursday 23 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast tending scattered on the far north coast and ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Friday 24 FebruaryThe chance of showers in the northeast more likely near the coast. The chance of thunderstorms in the far northeastern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds.Saturday 25 FebruaryPartly cloudy on the south and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Showers elsewhere with the chance of thunderstorms in the far west. Northwest to northeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
