Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure will cross eastern Victoria tonight as the next high pressure system forms south of the Bight. An upper level trough will affect far northern Victoria Monday. The high will move slowly southeastwards on Monday and Tuesday and will direct a southeast to southerly airflow across Victoria. On Wednesday, the high will pass to the south of Tasmania, reaching the Tasman Sea on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers and thunderstorms mainly in the east. Moderate southwest to southerly winds gradually extending from the west.Monday 20 FebruaryIsolated showers or drizzle patches over southern and mountain areas, mainly during the morning. Local showers and thunderstorms over the northwest, extending eastwards along the northern border during the day. Mild near the coast but warmer inland with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger -  Locally highTuesday 21 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south contracting eastwards during the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms over northeast Victoria, but fine and mostly sunny over remaining northern districts. Mild near the coast but warmer inland with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Wednesday 22 FebruaryLocal morning showers about the central coast. Fine elsewhere apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast and also along the Gippsland ranges. Mild near the coast, but warm inland with light to moderate east to southeast winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Thursday 23 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny. Warm inland with light and variable winds. Milder along the coastal fringe with seabreezes developing during the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
