MELBOURNE - Feb 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure over the south and west of the State will move northeastwards to reach a line near Ernabella to Marree around midnight and then move over the northeast interior during Monday. A high south of WA will move east to be centered south of the Bight on Monday, then move slowly eastwards. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers about southern and western coasts, extending over the agricultural and south of the pastoral districts, clearing from the south. Possible isolated thunderstorms developing over the west and northern agricultural area. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing north of about Marree to Coober Pedy. Mild to warm about southern coasts grading to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds becoming fresh to strong over the Northwest Pastoral during the afternoon and evening with areas of raised dust. Moderate northerly winds in the northeast. Moderate to fresh afternoon sea breezes.Monday 20 FebruaryIsolated light showers about southern coasts. Isolated showers north of about Renmark to Pt Augusta contracting northwards during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms north of Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot to very hot in the far north.Tuesday 21 FebruaryPossible light morning showers about southern and western coasts. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms north of Coober Pedy. Mild about the coasts, grading to hot inland. Moderate south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 22 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over the Northeast Pastoral district. Mild to warm in the south, hot inland. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday morning until midnight Wednesday are expected to be generally up to 2 mm with possible local falls of 2-10 mm with thunderstorms.Thursday until SaturdayAn in feed of moisture from the east will result in showers over the eastern parts of the Northeast Pastoral, extending south and west during the period.
