Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough will linger over northeastern Victoria on Friday and Saturday while a high pressure system south of the Bight moves south of Tasmania. A trough will move across the state on Sunday associated with a cold front to the south and the next high pressure system will move towards the Bight on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over central and eastern districts becoming more widespread about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Warm in the north but mild in the south. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  High in the north and west.Saturday 18 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east and near the central coast tending scattered over the eastern ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate southeasterly wind becoming fresh to strong along the coast. Generally warm to very warm.Sunday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms mainly in the east and near the coast. Moderate west to southwesterly winds extending to central districts by the afternoon. Generally warm to very warm, though becoming cooler in the southwest.Monday 20 FebruaryScattered showers in the east, becoming isolated in remaining southern districts and clearing from the west. Isolated thunderstorms in the east. Warm in the north, mild in the south. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
