Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure will remain near stationary over inland parts of the State through to the weekend and then move east of the border as a new high develops southwest of the Bight. The high will move slowly east to be near Tasmania by mid-week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated light morning showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast then fine apart from possible showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral and northern parts of the Flinders district after midday. Mild to warm over the agricultural area, grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and moderate to fresh afternoon sea breezes about the coasts.Saturday 18 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms north of about Adelaide. Fine in the south and far west. Warm about southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to easterly winds and moderate to fresh afternoon sea breezes.Sunday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers developing over most areas of the State, apart from the far northeast. Possible thunderstorms south of about Ceduna to Broken Hill. Mild to warm about southern coasts grading to very hot in the north. Light to moderate northerly winds tending moderate to fresh southerly about the coasts then extending during the day.Monday 20 February
Isolated light morning showers about southern and western coasts. Fine elsewhere apart from possible showers north of Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot to very hot in the far north.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning until midnight Monday are expected to be generally up to 2 mm, increasing to 2-5 mm over north parts of the agricultural area, the Flinders and southeast of the pastoral districts. Local falls of around 10 mm are possible with thunderstorms.
Tuesday until ThursdayShowers clearing from southern coasts. Possible showers remaining north of Coober Pedy until Tuesday evening. Showers developing over the northeast late in the period. Mild to warm about the coasts, hot inland. Southeast winds tending east to northeasterly later in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
