Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over western Victoria will move slowly eastwards across the State today, reaching central districts during the afternoon and eastern districts overnight. The trough will linger near northeastern Victoria on Friday and Saturday. Another high pressure system will develop to the southwest of Tasmania on Friday before drifting well to the south on Saturday. The next cold front will move through Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over central and eastern districts and tending scattered about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. A warm to very warm day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the west, extending to central districts during the afternoon and reaching the east at night.Fire Danger -  High to very high in the north.Friday 17 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Isolated showers about the southwest but fine over remaining districts. Warm to very warm in the north but mild in the south. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times along the coast.Saturday 18 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east and near the central coast tending scattered over the eastern ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate southeasterly wind becoming fresh to strong along the coast. Generally warm to very warm.Sunday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms mainly in the east and near the coast. Moderate west to southwesterly winds extending throughout by the afternoon.
