Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea will drift towards New Zealand on Thursday. A low pressure trough will enter southwest Victoria late today and will move slowly eastwards across the State on Thursday. The low pressure trough will linger near northeastern Victoria on Friday and Saturday. Another high pressure system will develop to the southwest of Tasmania on Friday before drifting well to the south of Tasmania on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMostly fine. Early fogs in Gippsland. Isolated showers possible over the southwest and this afternoon about the far eastern ranges. A warm to very warm day with moderate north to northeasterly winds shifting west to southwesterly in the the far west this evening.Fire Danger -  Generally High to Very High.Thursday 16 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the east. Generally warm to very warm with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a southwesterly change, reaching eastern districts at night.Friday 17 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Isolated showers in most other districts but fine over the northwest. Warm to very warm in the north but mild in the south. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times along the coast.Saturday 18 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east and near the central coast tending scattered over the eastern ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate southeasterly wind becoming fresh to strong along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
