MELBOURNE - Feb 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad trough lies over NSW while a weak high covers Tasmania and southwestern Tasman Sea. The high will become slow moving in the Tasman Sea, extending a ridge to the north coast, as the trough weakens today. Another trough is expected to intensify over the west of the state during Wednesday and Thursday then deepen on Friday and Saturday as it moves slowly eastwards. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers on the coast and ranges with the chance of thunderstorms. Possible isolated showers about the western slopes early evening. Mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate east to southeast winds, northeasterly on the South Coast.Wednesday 15 FebruaryIsolated showers along the coast and ranges, more likely central and northern parts. Isolated afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms about the northeastern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog patches about the ranges. Hot day in the far west. Southeast winds on the north coast. Northeast winds remainder, freshening on the south coast in the afternoon.Thursday 16 FebruaryPossible isolated showers in most districts, more likely on the far north coast and about the western slopes of the southern ranges. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms for most districts west of the ranges and on the far south coast. Fine and partly cloudy in the far west and on the central part of the coast. Hot day in the far west. Southeast winds on the north coast. Northeasterly winds remainder, freshening on southern and central parts of the coast and turning northwest to southwesterly in the southwest.Friday 17 February Isolated showers in most districts, tending scattered in the southeast. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms from the central north to the southeast. Fine and partly cloudy in the far west. Hot day in the west. North to northeasterly winds, humid along the coast, tending northwest to southwest in the southwest and southerly on the south coast later. Saturday 18 FebruaryScattered showers through eastern districts with isolated thunderstorms. Isolated showers in central districts. Fine in the far west. Hot day in the west. Humid southeast to northeast winds near the coast.
