Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over Tasmania will move eastwards and will be located over the central Tasman Sea on Wednesday and over New Zealand on Thursday. A low pressure trough will enter the southwest Victoria late on Wednesday and move slowly eastwards across the State on Thursday. On Friday the low pressure trough will linger near northeastern Victoria while a strong high pressure system will develop to the southwest of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayEarly fog patches in the south. Isolated showers over Gippsland contracting to the ranges this afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms also possible over the eastern ranges this afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with light winds and moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Fire Danger -  Moderate to High, reaching Very High in the southwest.Wednesday 15 FebruaryMostly fine. Isolated showers possible later in the southwest and during the afternoon over the northeast ranges. A warm to very warm day with moderate north to northeasterly winds shifting westerly in the the far west later.Thursday 16 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the east. Generally warm to very warm with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a southwesterly change, reaching eastern districts at night.Friday 17 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Isolated showers in most other districts but fine over the northwest. Warm to very warm in the north but mild in the south. Generally light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
