MELBOURNE - Feb 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure extends across eastern Victoria while a high pressure system moves slowly over Tasmania during today. The high will move east of Tasmania on Tuesday and be located in the central Tasman Sea on Wednesday and over New Zealand on Thursday. A low pressure trough will enter the southwest of the State late on Wednesday and move slowly eastwards across the State on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers over Gippsland tending more isolated over the Central district and the Otway ranges. Isolated showers extending to the northeast in the afternoon. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms over eastern districts. Mostly sunny elsewhere. A mild to warm day with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times along the coast.Fire Danger - Locally high.Tuesday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east, contracting to the eastern ranges by the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with light winds and moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 15 FebruaryIsolated showers developing in the southwest and over the northeast ranges. A warm to very warm day with moderate northeasterly winds shifting westerly in the the west later.Thursday 16 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the east.
