MELBOURNE - Feb 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure extends across eastern Victoria while a high pressure system south of South Australia extends a ridge south of Tasmania. A low pressure system deepening over the Tasman Sea will move slowly to the southeast with the ridge of high pressure expected to remain across Tasmania on Monday. The high will move east of Tasmania on Tuesday and be located in the central Tasman Sea on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas. Mostly fine over the northern plains, just the chance of isolated showers in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms developing in the east, mainly about the ranges. A mild day with moderate south to southeasterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.Fire Danger - High in the north.Monday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south, tending more widespread over Gippsland and near the Otway ranges. Fine in the north. A mild and partly cloudy day with a light to moderate southeasterly wind, fresh at times along the coast.Tuesday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east, contracting to the eastern ranges by the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A mild and mainly sunny day with light winds and moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 15 FebruaryIsolated showers developing in the southwest and over the northeast ranges.
