Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure extends through NSW across eastern Victoria while a ridge of high pressure persists south of Tasmania. A low pressure system will likely develop off the south coast of NSW later today. On Sunday the low will drift eastwards with the ridge of high pressure expected to remain across Tasmania on Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers over southern and mountain areas, tending to rain at times over Gippsland and the Otway ranges with possible heavy falls. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Isolated thunderstorms developing over central and eastern districts. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong near the coast but lighter over the northeast.Fire Danger -  High in the northwest, generally low to moderate elsewhere.Sunday 12 FebruaryScattered showers in remaining southern and mountain areas. Mostly fine over the northern plains with just the chance of isolated showers near the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. A mild day with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Monday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south, tending more widespread over Gippsland and near the Otway ranges. Fine in the north. A mild and partly cloudy day with a light to moderate southeasterly wind, fresh at times along the coast.Tuesday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east, contracting to the eastern ranges by the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A mild and mainly sunny day with light winds and moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
