Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high well south of Western Australia is directing a cool southwest to southeast airstream over the State. The high will move slowly eastwards to be centred well south of the Bight on Friday and Saturday and over Tasmania early next week ahead of a trough developing over the west of the State. An upper level disturbance will move over Eyre Peninsula this evening then northeastwards to be centred over NSW on Friday as a trough develops over Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers extending across the agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts, except for the eastern districts. Possible thunderstorms over Eyre Peninsula and the Flinders during the evening. Mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Friday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers, chiefly over the agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts. Possible morning thunderstorms over the Flinders and southern parts of the Northeast Pastoral. Showers becoming scattered with possible thunderstorms south of about Keith, then scattered showers extending to Kangaroo Island and southern Fleurieu Peninsula in the evening. Fine over the remainder. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds, strong at times about southern coasts.Saturday 11 FebruaryIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered during the morning over Kangaroo Island, southern Yorke peninsula and the east coast of Eyre Peninsula. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild in south, warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds.Sunday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers south of about Adelaide, clearing by evening. Cool to mild in the south, warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds.Monday 13 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny. Warm to hot with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times in the west, and fresh sea breezes. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon until midnight Monday are expected to be 1-2 mm over the agricultural areas and southern parts of the pastoral districts,increasing to 2-5 mm about the southern coasts and ranges, possible localised falls of 5 to 10 mm about southern coasts of Eyre and Yorke Peninsula and the Lower South East.Tuesday until ThursdayFine apart from possible isolated showers developing about the eastern border area, north of Broken Hill on Thursday. Temperatures rising ahead of a trough in the west slowly moving east to be over the Northeast Pastoral on Thursday. Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds ahead of milder southwest to southeast wind behind the trough.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
