MELBOURNE - Feb 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening cold front will move through eastern Bass Strait this morning. A weak high pressure ridge will extend across southern Victoria today, before moving over Tasmania on Wednesday. On Thursday a high pressure system will be located to the south of the Bight while a low pressure trough develops over northern Victoria, the high will move eastwards on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPartly cloudy with isolated showers in the south contracting to Gippsland in the afternoon. Dry and mainly sunny in the north. Generally mild with moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Fire Danger - Low in the southeast, High elsewhere.Wednesday 8 FebruaryFine apart from isolated morning showers over East Gippsland and near the coast. A mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate southerly winds.Thursday 9 FebruaryIsolated morning showers possible near the coast then isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing over the northeast. Fine elsewhere. A mild and partly cloudy day with light winds in the north tending moderate to fresh east to southeasterly in the south.Friday 10 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing over most districts, mainly in the afternoon.
