MELBOURNE - Feb 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure in the west will move across the state reaching the eastern border Sunday afternoon, with a low pressure system developing over waters to the south of the State. A ridge of high pressure will become established over the state early next week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine over the Northeast Pastoral, Flinders and Riverland districts. Isolated showers over the remainder. Possible thundery showers over the Northwest Pastoral district west of Coober Pedy. Warm to hot with light to moderate winds, mainly northeast to northwest, ahead of a milder, fresh to strong south to southwesterly change in the west extending east to reach Spencer Gulf towards midnight. Possible raised dust with the change over the Northwest Pastoral district.Sunday 5 FebruaryAreas of morning rain with possible thunderstorms about southern coastal districts. Otherwise, scattered showers over the southern agricultural area with isolated showers over northern agricultural and southern pastoral areas, all easing in the afternoon. Showers more frequent over the southern Mount Lofty Ranges in the morning. Partly cloudy with possible morning showers over the Northwest Pastoral district. Cool in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Fresh to strong south to southwesterly winds extending throughout by midday, reaching gale force near southern coasts.Monday 6 FebruaryIsolated showers about the west coast and agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Cool to mild, grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Moderating southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 7 FebruaryIsolated showers about the west coast and agricultural area contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 8 FebruaryIsolated showers about southern coasts and east coast of Eyre Peninsula, contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Moderate southeast to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 20 mm about southern coastal districts and the southern Mount Lofty Ranges. 1 to 2 mm is expected over the remainder.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers about the west coast and agricultural areas, contracting to southern coasts later in the period. Cool to mild in the south grading to mild to warm in the north.
