Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lies over inland New South Wales, while a ridge extends across the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern, assisted by an upper-level system in the area, is generating rainfall across many central and eastern districts. Another trough off the north coast is slowly moving south and expected to be just off the south coast during Friday. Later on Friday both the inland trough and the ridge to the south are forecast to weaken, leading to easing conditions throughout the region. A feeble ridge will then develop over New South Wales through the weekend, with any remaining shower activity becoming isolated and restricted to the east. Later on Sunday a cold front is forecast to enter the state's west, bringing some shower activity to most areas as it continues to the east on Monday, although significant rain totals appear unlikely.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in central and northeast areas, with locally heavy falls likely, easing in the northeast. Isolated showers elsewhere, with thunderstorms in the far west. Northeast to southeast winds.Friday 3 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny in the far west. Isolated showers in the northeast. Rain periods elsewhere, possibly heavy in the early morning about parts of the northern inland and central coast, before easing to a few showers during the afternoon. Northeast to southeast winds, turning west southwesterly about parts of the south coast.Saturday 4 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny in the west and in the southern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere, chiefly near the coast. Mainly southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 5 FebruaryMostly fine in the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds near the coast. North to northeast winds inland, turning southerly in the west later.Monday 6 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east. Fine in the west.
