Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge south of Tasmania. The high is forecast to lie southeast of New Zealand on Friday while the ridge will persist across to Bass Strait. A low pressure trough will cross South Australia on Saturday ahead of a cold front which will cross Victoria on Sunday. Another cold front will enter western Bass Strait later on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the northeast and isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the northwest. Warm inland with generally light east to southeasterly winds, milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.Friday 3 FebruaryMorning fog patches in the south. Isolated showers possible near and south of the ranges. Otherwise a warm day with high cloud developing from the west. Generally light winds and milder afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 4 FebruaryMorning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers possible about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Otherwise a warm and mostly sunny day with generally light wind tending moderate northwesterly over the southwest and milder afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 5 FebruaryIsolated showers developing ahead of a band of rain extending from the west and forecast to reach eastern districts by the evening. Rain tending more patchy over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms developing near and ahead of the change. Warm and humid northerly winds freshening ahead of a cooler, fresh southwesterly change extending from the west during the day.Monday 6 FebruaryIsolated showers near and south of the ranges. Mostly sunny in the north. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
