Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the west across the Tasman Sea directing moist winds into a broad low pressure trough over northeastern New South Wales. Another trough off the north coast with a small low embedded in it is slowly moving south and it will weaken on the south coast during Friday. During Monday and Tuesday a cold front is expected to move through the state.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in northeast with local heavy falls, easing on the far north coast and ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far west. The chance of showers elsewhere. Northeast to southeast winds.Friday 3 FebruaryMostly sunny in the far west. The chance of showers on the north coast and ranges. Showers in the remainder. Northeast to southeast winds.Saturday 4 FebruaryMostly sunny in the west and in the southeastern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 5 FebruaryMostly sunny in the west. Isolated showers in the east.Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
