Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge stretches from the Bight to New Zealand, directing a generally moist easterly airstream over New South Wales. A broad trough lies over inland New South Wales and small low lies within a trough off the northern NSW coast. This low is slowly moving southwards during today and Thursday. On Saturday a cold front approaches from SA. This front is currently expected to pass through most of NSW Sunday through Monday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine in the west and across the south. A rain band extending from the North West Slopes to the Hunter is slowly moving southwards. Isolated showers over the reminder of the northeast and along the southern coast. East to southeast winds.Thursday 2 FebruaryMostly fine across the southern inland. Showers elsewhere, tending to rain areas, locally heavy at times about the northern inland and extending southwards along the central coast. Isolated thunderstorms in the far west. Northeast to southeast winds.Friday 3 FebruaryMostly sunny in the west and southwest. Showers over the reminder, chiefly about the northern inland, central inland and the southeast. Northeast to southeast winds.Saturday 4 FebruaryMostly sunny in the west and southwest. Isolated showers in the east, and the chance of showers over the remainder. Southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 5 FebruaryMostly sunny in the west. Isolated showers in the east, increasing about the southeastern Victorian border.Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a southwesterly change over the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
