MELBOURNE - Jan 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand is weakening while a low moves across the southern Tasman Sea. This low is associated with a trough extending over northeast New South Wales, which is interacting with a warm and humid air mass to generate heavy rainfall in that area. The trough is expected to remain over the northeast during the next day or two, becoming detached from the Tasman low as a high moves eastwards from the Bight. A drier airstream over the state's south is expected to keep southern districts generally fine over the next few days.
