Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system to the southeast of Tasmania will move rapidly east over the Tasman Sea today. A high pressure system will move south of the Bight on Tuesday, reaching Tasmania on Wednesday and the southern Tasman Sea on Thursday. A weak low pressure trough will dip into northern Victoria on Friday but a ridge will persist across Bass Strait.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers in southern and mountain districts becoming isolated during the afternoon then contracting to the coast and Gippsland by the evening. Fine and mostly sunny on the northern plains. Cool, fresh to strong southwest to southerly wind, gradually easing from the west.Fire Danger -  Generally high, reaching very high in the northern country.Wednesday 1 FebruaryIsolated showers in Gippsland and local showers possible in the southwest until early afternoon. A mild day, mostly sunny in the north. Moderate south to southeasterly wind, freshening near the coast in the afternoon.Thursday 2 FebruaryIsolated afternoon showers developing in the east, mainly about the ranges with the chance of thunderstorms. Warm inland with generally light east to southeasterly winds, milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.Friday 3 FebruaryIsolated showers and the risk of thunderstorms about the ranges.
