Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is weakening as a trough moves across western New South Wales, with a humid northerly airstream being generated between these systems. This trough, and an associated cold front, is expected to move to the northeast during Tuesday before stalling. During Wednesday and Thursday the next high will move from the Bight to the Tasman Sea, while a trough lingers over inland New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of MondayShowers over most of the state with thunderstorms on and west of the divide. Mainly fine about the coast. North to northwest winds in the west, turning southwesterly in the evening or overnight. North to northeasterly winds near the coast, fresh and gusty in exposed areas.Tuesday 31 JanuaryFine in the southwest. Showers over the remainder, clearing early from the southern inland. Showers increasing to rain areas over the northeastern quarter during the afternoon, with thunderstorms likely, and the possibility of locally heavy falls. South to southeast winds tending North to northeast winds in the northeast, with southerly winds extending across the remainder.Wednesday 1 FebruaryFine and mostly sunny in the west and southwest. Showers elsewhere, tending to rain areas over parts of the the northeast, with possible thunderstorms and locally heavy falls. East to southeast winds.Thursday 2 FebruaryMostly fine in the west and south. Showers elsewhere, scattered about the northeast. Easterly winds.Friday 3 FebruaryThe chance of showers in the south, tending scattered about central parts of the coast.
