Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system deepening south of the Bight has an associated cold front that will reach southwest Victoria Monday morning. The cold front will move rapidly eastwards, clearing the far east Monday evening. The next high pressure system will move south of the Bight on Tuesday, reaching Tasmania on Wednesday and the Tasman Sea on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayHumid with patchy rain over the north. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over southern districts mainly near the eastern ranges. Moderate north to northeasterly winds with seabreezes near the coast.Monday 30 JanuaryHumid with rain areas, local thunderstorms and moderate to fresh northerly winds. Heavy falls possible over the northeast. A cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly change in the west during the morning, extending to the east by late in the day. Rain clearing soon after the change but isolated showers to follow in the south.Fire Danger -  Generally Low to Moderate, reaching Very High in the northwest.Tuesday 31 JanuaryIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, contracting to the coast in the morning and clearing in the afternoon. Fine and sunny in the north. Cool in the south, mild in the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 1 FebruaryIsolated showers possible near the coast during the morning, mainly Gippsland. Otherwise a fine, mild and mostly sunny day with light to moderate southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast in the afternoon.Thursday 2 FebruaryIsolated afternoon showers developing in the east, mainly about the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible about the eastern ranges in the afternoon and evening. Warm with generally light east to southeasterly winds, milder near the coast with freshening afternoon seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
