Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high is in the Tasman Sea with a weakening ridge towards northern New South Wales. A low over the inland Queensland/NSW border extends a trough towards South Australia. The low will move further southwards today and weaken. A deep moist east to northeast airstream continues over the state. The trough will move eastwards with a front developing within it and moving through most of NSW on Monday, stalling over the northeast of the sate on Tuesday. On Wednesday/Thursday the next high will move into the Tasman with a trough lingering over inland NSW.
Forecast for the rest of SundayFine in the far southeast. Cloudy with rain areas over most of the remainder, extending further southeast during the evening. East to northeast winds.Monday 30 JanuaryRain or showers over most of the state with thunderstorms developing in the afternoon on and west of the divide. Local heavy falls possible about the Southwest Slopes and Alpine areas. Clearing along most of the coast during the afternoon. Freshening north to northwest winds in the east. West to northwest winds in the west ahead of a cooler fresh, gusty south to southwest change in the west and south during the afternoon.Tuesday 31 JanuaryFine in the far southwest. Showers over the remainder, clearing early from the western and southern inland. Showers becoming scattered over the northeastern quarter, with afternoon thunderstorms likely over the northeastern inland. South to southeast winds tending east to northeast in the northeast.Wednesday 1 FebruaryMostly sunny in the west and southwest of the state. Showers or rain periods over the remainder, chiefly over the northeastern quarter, and more isolated over the remainder. East to southeast winds.Thursday 2 February
Mostly sunny in the west. Scattered showers over the northeast, tending isolated over the remainder. Easterly winds.
