Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over Tasmania. A low pressure trough extends from central Australia into western Victoria. A low pressure system will deepen south of the Bight on Sunday and an associated cold front should reach southwest Victoria Monday morning. The cold front will move rapidly across the state on Monday. with the next high pressure system moving south of the Bight on Tuesday, reaching Tasmania on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayHumid with isolated showers and thunderstorms about the ranges and the northwest. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds tending moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly over southern districts.Sunday 29 JanuaryA humid day with cloud increasing in the afternoon and evening. Patchy rain developing over the northwest. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over southern districts in the afternoon, mainly near the eastern ranges. Moderate north to northeasterly winds with afternoon seabreezes in the south.Fire Danger -  Generlly high reaching very high in the northeast and southwest.Monday 30 JanuaryHumid with rain areas, local thunderstorms and moderate to fresh northerly winds. Heavy falls possible over the northeast. A cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly change in the west during the morning, extending to the east by late in the day. Rain clearing soon after the change but isolated showers to follow in the south.Tuesday 31 JanuaryIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, clearing in the morning. Fine and sunny in the north. Cool in the south, mild to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 1 FebruaryIsolated showers possible near the coast during the morning, mainly Gippsland. Otherwise a fine, mild and mostly sunny day with light to moderate southeasterly winds freshening near the coast in the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
