Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high centred southeast of the Bight will move slowly east to be centered over the Tasman Sea on Saturday. A weak trough of low pressure over the northeast of the state will move westwards today and Saturday to be positioned near southern and western coasts by later Saturday. A front over western districts later on Sunday will pass over remaining parts by early Monday, followed by a new high developing to the southwest of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms northeast of Leigh Creek extending to northeast of Coober Pedy to Clare during the day. Showers becoming scattered near the eastern border from late afternoon. Moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong and times near southern and western coasts. Warm to hot.Saturday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms extending from the east to most districts except for southern coasts and western areas west of about Coober Pedy to Wudinna. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds.Sunday 29 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, except for areas west of Coober Pedy to Ceduna and over far southern coasts, however isolated light showers developing near far southern coasts late evening. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a milder, moderate to fresh southerly change developing in the west, extending to southern coasts late evening.Monday 30 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral, and parts of the Riverland and Flinders districts. Isolated light showers over the South East district, and remaining coastal districts. Cool near southern coasts grading to hot in the far north, with fresh and gusty southerly winds, strengthening near the coasts. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning until midnight Monday are expected to be mostly less than 5 mm, increasing to 5 to 15 mm east of the ranges, with local falls of 20 to 40 mm possible with thunderstorms near the New South Wales or Queensland border.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated light morning showers near southern and western coasts on Tuesday. The chance of showers in the northeast, clearing Thursday. Fine otherwise. Cool to mild near southern coasts, grading to hot in the north, but becoming warmer throughout on Thursday. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, easing on Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
