Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight is expected to move eastwards reaching the Tasman Sea on Friday. A low pressure trough is expected to extend southwards from central Australia into western Victoria late on Saturday and Sunday. At the same time a low pressure system will deepen southwest of Tasmania and an associated cold front should reach southwest Victoria on Sunday night before sweeping across the State on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from isolated showers developing in Gippsland. Clear and warm in the north but cooler in the south with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly wind.Friday 27 JanuaryIsolated showers over Gippsland clearing during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A warm to hot and mostly sunny day in the north and west, but mild to warm and partly cloudy in the southeast. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Moderate to high, reaching very high in the Mallee.Saturday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the far north and about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Fine in the south. A warm to hot and humid day with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Sunday 29 JanuaryA humid and mostly cloudy day with areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms developing in the west and isolated showers developing elsewhere. Moderate to fresh northerly wind.Monday 30 JanuaryHumid at first with rain areas, local thunderstorms and moderate to fresh northerly winds. Heavy falls likely, especially central and eastern areas. A cooler, fresh to strong southwest to southerly change in the west during the morning, extending to the east in the afternoon. The rain clearing soon after the change but isolated showers to follow in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
