MELBOURNE - Jan 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak cold front is crossing the southern Tasman Sea and a high pressure system south of the Bight is extending a ridge behind the front while a broad low pressure trough extends from southwestern Queensland into northeastern New South Wales and a slow-moving upper level trough lies over the north of the state. During Friday the high will move over the southwestern Tasman Sea extending the ridge to the north coast and the surface trough will move westwards. The trough is expected to move over the northeast during Sunday and Monday as another cold front passes to the south. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPartly cloudy in the far south. Rain on the far north coast with the chance of thunderstorms, possible local heavy falls. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds, turning more southerly in the south later.Friday 27 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the southeastern inland. Rain on the far north coast and adjacent ranges, possible local heavy falls. Scattered showers elsewhere, tending. Isolated thunderstorms in the northern inland.
