MELBOURNE - Jan 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight is expected to move eastwards reaching the Tasman Sea on Friday. A low pressure trough is expected to extend southwards from central Australia into western Victoria late on Saturday and Sunday. At the same time a low pressure system will deepen southwest of Tasmania and an associated cold front should reach southwest Victoria on Sunday evening. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Clear and warm in the north but cooler in the south with patchy cloud cover. Moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly wind.Thursday 26 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers developing in Gippsland during the evening. A warm to hot and sunny day in the north but mild and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly wind.Fire Danger - High to very high.Friday 27 JanuaryIsolated showers over Gippsland clearing during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A warm to hot and mostly sunny day in the north and west, but mild to warm and partly cloudy in the southeast. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers developing on and north of the divide and becoming more extensive in the northwest by the evening. The chance of late thunderstorms in the northwest. Mainly dry in the south. A warm to very warm and humid day with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Sunday 29 JanuaryA humid and mostly cloudy day with patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms developing. Rain increasing later over the northeast with heavy falls possible.
