MELBOURNE - Jan 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system centred over the Tasman Sea is directing moist easterly winds across New South Wales, while a broad trough of low pressure extends from western Queensland into New South Wales. This pattern, assisted by an upper-level trough over the state's north, is bringing showers and rain to many districts, particularly the northeast. A weak cold front will pass to the south during Thursday as the high moves away to the east, although another high will shift from the Bight to the Tasman Sea on Friday. Rainy or showery conditions are likely to persist in many districts ahead of the next front, forecast to cross the region late on the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMostly fine across the southern inland. Rain areas and possible thunder in the northeast, more widespread about the coast and adjacent ranges, with heavy falls likely. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds, fresh and gusty about the north coast.Thursday 26 JanuaryFine and partly cloudy across the southern inland.
