MELBOURNE - Jan 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak trough of low pressure will remain near stationary over the west of the State today. A high 1023 hPa south of Perth will move east to be centred south of the Bight on Wednesday and east of Tasmania late Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms from late morning until mid evening over the Northeast Pastoral, the agricultural area northeast of Hawker to Renmark and possibly over parts of the far west of the State. Warm to hot near the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, gradually turning fresh south to southeasterly about the coasts and far west.Wednesday 25 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms northeast of Marree. Warm on the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds inland, tending moderate to fresh southeast in the afternoon. Fresh to strong south to southeast winds about the coasts.Thursday 26 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of Leigh Creek, otherwise fine and mostly sunny. Warm near the coast, hot to very hot inland with moderate to fresh southeast winds.Friday 27 January Fine apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms east of Oodnadatta to Renmark. Light to moderate east to southeast winds. Warm to hot, grading to very hot inland. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning until midnight Friday are expected to be mostly less than 2 mm. Local falls of 10 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms near the New South Wales border. Saturday until MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms east of about Woomera clearing to the east. Isolated showers developing about coastal areas on Sunday then clearing during Monday morning.
