MELBOURNE - Jan 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak trough of low pressure will remain near stationary over the west of the State today and Tuesday. A high southwest of Perth will move east to be centred south of the Bight on Wednesday and east of Tasmania late Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms northwest of Adelaide to Renmark, contracting north and east during the evening. Light to moderate east to northeast winds, turning southerly in the far west. Moderate to fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Tuesday 24 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral east of Leigh Creek and the east of the Flinders district, mostly during the afternoon. Warm to hot near the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, gradually turning fresh south to southeasterly about the coasts.Wednesday 25 JanuaryFine and mostly sunny throughout. Warm on the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong about the coasts and turning fresh southeasterly inland in the afternoon.Thursday 26 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing northeast of Leigh Creek, otherwise fine and mostly sunny. Warm near the coast, hot to very hot inland with moderate to fresh southeast winds.Friday 27 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunder east of Oodnadatta to Renmark. Light to moderate east to southeast winds. Warm to hot, grading to very hot inland. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday morning until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 2 mm, increasing to 5 to 15 mm with thunderstorms over the north of the State.Saturday until MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms east of about Woomera clearing to the east. Isolated showers developing about coastal areas on Sunday then clearing during Monday morning.
