MELBOURNE - Jan 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough lies over inland parts of New South Wales while another trough sits over the northern Tasman Sea. The offshore trough is likely to move closer to the coast and amplify on Monday. This will combine with an upper disturbance and strengthening onshore airstream triggering possible local heavy falls for parts of the northern coast and adjacent ranges on Monday. During Sunday and Monday the inland trough will shift west and weaken as a high pressure system moves over the southwestern Tasman Sea extending a ridge along the coast. Another trough is expected to develop over the west of the state on Tuesday and and then to move to the northeast during Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front crosses the southern Tasman Sea. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers on the coast and on adjacent ranges tending scattered in the north with the chance of thunderstorms. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the west. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to southeast winds freshening along the north and central coasts.Monday 23 JanuaryScattered showers and chance thunderstorms on the coast and on adjacent ranges with local heavy falls for the parts of the northern coast. The chance of showers and thunderstorms over inland north, more likely near Queensland border. Isolated showers along the central and southern parts of the coast, clearing from the south during the morning. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
