MELBOURNE - Jan 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high south of Tasmania will gradually move eastwards over the Tasman sea during the week. A weak trough of low pressure will extend into South Australia from the east during Sunday and remain near stationary over the west of the State on Monday and Tuesday. A new high pressure system will develop to the west of the Bight early in the week then move slowly east. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers developing chiefly over the northern agricultural area, the Flinders and Pastoral districts. Isolated thunderstorms developing over eastern districts and the Flinders district, and also in the far northwest. A warm night with mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds.Monday 23 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing north of a line from about Adelaide to Ceduna. Warm to hot, grading to very hot inland. Moderate to fresh east to northeast winds, turning southerly in the far west.Tuesday 24 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing north of about Port Augusta. Warm to hot on the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong about the coasts.Wednesday 25 JanuaryFine and mostly sunny throughout. Warm on the coasts, hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong about the coasts.Thursday 26 JanuaryFine and mostly sunny throughout. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh southeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 10 mm with thundestorms over the north of the State.Friday until SundayFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunder about the eastern border area north of about Renmark and coastal showers developing later in the weekend. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, shifting fresh southerly throughout over the weekend.
