Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will pass just south of Tasmania today then move across the southern Tasman Sea on Monday and Tuesday. A weak low pressure trough over northern Victoria will dissipate today then a new trough will form over South Australia. This trough will drift eastwards across Victoria late on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Wednesday night another high centre will be well south of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning drizzle patches in Gippsland. The chance of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the west and about the central ranges. Mild to warm and partly cloudy in Gippsland but warm to hot and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh to locally strong along the coast.Fire Danger -  Generally high, reaching very high in the Mallee.Monday 23 JanuaryFine. A warm to hot and mostly sunny day with moderate northeasterly winds and fresh afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 24 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Warm to hot and mostly sunny with light to moderate northeasterly winds ahead of a milder southerly change developing in the southwest and extending to remaining southern areas in the evening.Wednesday 25 JanuaryMorning drizzle patches in the southwest and the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, otherwise fine. A warm to hot day in the north with light winds. Mild to warm in the south with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
