Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is south of Adelaide and a weak low pressure trough is over northeastern Victoria. The high will drift eastwards towards Tasmania today as the low pressure trough weakens further over northeastern Victoria and a new low pressure trough forms over South Australia. The high will become established over the Tasman Sea early next week. The next low pressure trough will approach southwestern Victoria on Monday before moving through southern Victoria on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMorning drizzle patches near the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in parts of the north and east during the afternoon and evening, mainly about the ranges. Mild to warm in the south and warm to hot over the north with light to moderate southeast to easterly winds, fresh to strong near the coast in the afternoon and evening.Fire Danger -  Moderate to High, reaching Very High in the Mallee.Sunday 22 JanuaryFine apart from drizzle patches in Gippsland clearing and the chance of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the west. Generally warm to hot and sunny with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, milder in the southeast with fresh easterly winds.Monday 23 JanuaryFine. A warm to hot and mostly sunny day with moderate east to northeasterly winds and fresh afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 24 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Warm to hot in the north and at first in the south with light to moderate northeasterly winds but a milder southerly chance extending to southern areas during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
