MELBOURNE - Jan 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be centred near Tasmania on the weekend, and over the Tasman sea early next week. A weak trough of low pressure will extend into South Australia from the east during Sunday and remain near stationary over the following few days. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from isolated showers over the West Coast district west of Ceduna and over the Pastoral districts. Chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild to warm near the coast, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds.Sunday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing late morning in the east, extending to central districts during the afternoon and tending scattered in the east. The chance of isolated showers in the Northwest Pastoral. Warm to hot, grading to very hot in the far north. Mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds.Monday 23 JanuaryFine over eastern parts south of Broken Hill, the remainder of the southern agricultural area and the far west coast. Isolated showers and the chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms elsewhere. Warm to hot, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh east to northeast winds, turning southerly in the far west.Tuesday 24 January Cloudy though mainly fine about southern coasts and ranges. Isolated showers and the chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the remainder. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday afternoon until midnight Tuesday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm about eastern districts with local falls of 10 to 20 mm with thunderstorms. Generally less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere, with local falls to 5 mm with thunderstorms. Wednesday until FridayFine about southern coasts and ranges.
