Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lies over the northern Tasman Sea and another trough lies over inland NSW. A high pressure system in the eastern Bight extends a ridge eastwards to the Tasman Sea. The high will move slowly east, strengthening to the east of Tasmania during the weekend. The inland trough should persist over the weekend, moving slowly further westwards. The Tasman trough is forecast to move towards the NSW north coast Sunday and Monday and weaken.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine in the far southwest. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the remaining districts on and west of the ranges, particularly about the southern and central ranges and adjacent western slopes. Isolated showers along the coast in the north and far south. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms on and west of the ranges, more widespread about the western slopes of the ranges and adjacent plains, and less likely near the South Australian border. Isolated showers about the coast. Southeast to southwest winds.Sunday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the west and about the northern inland, tending scattered in the northwest. Isolated showers about the coast and adjacent ranges, scattered in the north. Mostly dry about the southeast inland. East to southeast winds, freshening along the north coast.Monday 23 JanuaryScattered showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, possibly locally heavy with thunder. Isolated showers remainder coast and ranges and possibly western slopes. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northwest. Fine remainder. Southeast to northeast winds.Tuesday 24 JanuaryScattered showers in the northeast. Isolated showers remaining northern districts and possibly about the southeast. Fine in the southwest.
